I just assumed that the years of mental abuse and glue huffing had severely affected his mental abilities, since it began at such a young age.
As someone with adhd and possibly autism I relate to him a lot <3 I do agree that the abuse he experienced from a young age affected it but neurodivergence can definitely coexist with that, and in fact being autistic itself can be a risk factor for abuse and affect how one deals with it
@Lesbiancharliekelly another person who relates with charlie due to neurodivergence,, hello!! but yeah, hes most definitely got both trauma and is neurodivergent, imho.
yas that is an autistic man
I think the abuse contributes to some elements, but things like his obsessions and bizarre focuses and aptitude’s are very characteristic of fellow autists.
I'm neurodivergent myself and in some ways i feel i can relate to him a lot. i mean i don't walk around naked in the sewers, but the way he has certain, sometimes ritualistic ways of doing things is something i do as well. He also seems to have trouble with some social things, which i can unfortunately relate to a bit as well. there's a lot more i could talk about but for now i'll spare everyone that and just say that yes, i think he at the very least has adhd but likely some autism and possibly ocd as well. the brain damage he likely has from huffing glue and paint probably doesn't help either lol.
Yes. Also, I think his mom has some OCD. She talked about doing things a certain way because she felt it would prevent something terrible happening to Charlie (even though it was just mundane unrelated tasks).
I have had problems with similar OCD things, but thankfully not as much anymore (Not that I’m in peak condition, it’s just mainly other stuff now. Lol.). It was almost kind of refreshing to remember that some others can relate to having intense anxieties around things that logically don’t make sense or seem related in any way.
They described the feeling so perfectly when someone asked why she does things a certain number of times and she says something like, “So Charlie doesn’t die.”
It really resonated with me, because I relate so much to that feeling. It kind of helped me reaffirm that it’s a real struggle people have and not just me being outlandish or something.
I mean, he clearly has a learning disability
What do you think?
