Peter, better known as Psycho Pete, is the former leader of the Freight Train, the precursor to the Gang, with Charlie, Mac, and Dooley. == Character History == Psycho Pete used to lead a group of friends calling themselves the Freight Train during their time at Saint Joseph's Preparatory School. Among other things, they would gather stray cats and dogs for fights and scream in the faces of babies. == Season Seven == Pete is first mentioned when Charlie and Mac decide to get the Freight Train back together at their highschool reunion, only to find that Psycho Pete, who was remembered as "genuinely mentally ill", was not attending. They eventually ask Ingrid Nelson about his whereabouts, where she tells them that Psycho Pete had apparently threatened to burn the building down, also mentioning that he had dismembered and eaten his family during Christmas dinner after graduating, though he was presently at large due to being released early from prison on account of an insanity plea. 7x13 == Season Ten == Psycho Pete visits Paddy's Pub to check up with his high school friends after being discharged from a psychiatric facility, just as the Gang was again bringing up the possibility of reuniting the Freight Train after hearing the news. Although initially terrified of letting a violent cannibal join their group, to the Gang's surprise, Psycho Pete, now just Peter, seems to have reformed, is currently on medication, and has adopted a quiet, unassuming, and somewhat awkward disposition, voicing his regrets for his past "psycho" acts. After apologizing for the insensitive remarks about mentally ill people Pete overheard, the Gang books it to discuss this turn of events. Afraid that Pete could turn psycho again at any moment, Dennis, Dee, and Frank attempt to have Pete recommitted at a mental clinic, while Charlie and Mac, disappointed at seeing how Pete has mellowed, try to get Rickety Cricket to absolve him of his guilt, believing that this way, the old fun Psycho Pete will be able to make a comeback. Instead, Cricket is horrified when they tell him about Pete cannibalizing his family and burning down his house of Christmas as the impromptu confession goes on in the Paddy's men's room, further disturbing Pete. Mac comes to the only logical conclusion that Pete must have been possessed by the Devil and needs to undergo an exorcism. As they gather supplies for this undertaking, Dee and Dennis return with more meds, while Frank shows up with his gun to kill Psycho Pete before he murders them all. In the end, Pete reveals that his stay at the clinic was voluntary and that it was not for any violent crime, but for social anxiety disorder and depression. Furthermore, he reminds Mac and Charlie that they were the ones who made up and spread the Christmas cannibal story in the first place. Realizing Pete had truly turned over a new leaf, the Gang decide to "help" Pete with his issues by putting him on a train to Los Angeles. 10x3
