Notes[]
- During each of the end credits messages, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton are pictured in front of a white background. According to Glenn Howerton, "RCH never stood for Rob Charlie Howerton".[1] Rather, it appears to have stood for Red Cunt Hair.[2] The acronym displayed was changed from "RCH" to "RCG" during Season 4.
- "Clown baby" - is a nickname created by Dennis for Charlie Kelly (as an underground street fighter).[2x7] According to The Always Sunny Podcast, it is also a nickname for Charlie Day.
- "The Eagle's born out of thunder" is a line from the "Birds of War" song in Season 5's The Gang Wrestles for the Troops.
- "They got chicken in Philly" is a quote from the first episode of Season 10; The Gang Beats Boggs.
- RCG produced an episode of On the Record with Mick Rock, which also had a secret message: "Look, this is a totally different show!"
- Season 14's "They leave, but they all come back" is a reference to the fact that Glenn Howerton did not appear in several episodes of Season 13, and the message from the season prior (as spoken by Glenn), "Goodbye everyone, it's been brown".
- Season 15's "Four Walls, the better brown" is a direct reference to RCG's own brand of whiskey, Four Walls, for which the tagline is "the better brown". A special commemorative collector's edition of Four Walls was released alongside the season to celebrate 15 years of Always Sunny.
- The use of the word "brown" in most of the messages may have been a reference to Philly band Ween who have made the word their own, meaning bodacious, however, RCG frequently refers to whiskey as "brown".
- The Season 16 reverse message "Make it brown!" Was recorded during the second live show in Dublin, Ireland. Glenn, Rob and Charlie decided they wanted the crowd to be part of the reverse message at the end of each episode of Season 16.
