Ernest or commonly known as Ernie is a regular barfly at Paddy's until Season 5. Ernie is played by David Zdunich. Ernie can be seen in the background of many episodes, and up close in episodes Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person and Paddy's Pub: The Worst Bar in Philadelphia. David Zdunich passed away on September 15, 2009, and had the episode Paddy's Pub: Home of the Original Kitten Mittens dedicated to him. Ernie can be seen in the background of episodes throughout the remainder of season 5 as the episodes were filmed before his passing.
