It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was renewed for a fifteenth season on May 26, 2020, making it the longest-running live-action television comedy in American television history. It began airing December 1st and concluded on December 22nd, 2021. The season consists of 8 episodes.[1]

News[]

On May 26, 2020, it was announced that FXX renewed the show for season 15.

The season tackled real-life topics that happened in the last year including the Coronavirus pandemic, cancel culture, and Capital riots.[2] Season 15 had a shorter episode length than other seasons (eight episodes), likely the result of working through scheduling during COVID-19 filming restrictions. As a result, this season was notably aired in a quicker manner than previous seasons, with FXX airing two episodes each Wednesday night for four weeks.

Most notably, this is the first season where the episodes are available on Hulu in the United States a few hours after their cable debut airings. Previous seasons didn't premiere on Hulu until months after their original airdate. As such, much of this season was promoted under the "FX on Hulu" banner (which has since been phased-out in favor of a simpler "FX" branding).[3]
