The Always Sunny Podcast was a podcast starring Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, hosted by Megan Ganz that ran from November 18th, 2021 to July 10th, 2023. There are a total of 77 episodes, available to listen to on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts (formerly), Megaphone, Simplecast and available to watch on Spotify and YouTube.
Overview[]
The premise of The Always Sunny Podcast has RCG rewatching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia from the beginning, starting with episode one and watching through the series in broadcast order, though there are many off-topic episodes, with many fans jokingly criticizing RCG for barely talking about the episodes at all. By episode sixteen, the podcast transitioned from being audio-only to having an accompanying video, with audio-only listeners being referred to as "listeners" and video-watchers being referred to as "creeps".
The podcast ended prematurely due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, just before RCG could review The Gang Reignites The Rivalry, the Season 5 finale. On July 11th, 2023, prior to the indefinite hiatus, Rob McElhenney had posted to X and Threads that a new episode of the podcast would be releasing centered around a discussion about being "diagnosed with a host of neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities",[1] however, this episode was never filmed, nor released.
In July of 2024, Glenn Howerton confirmed that they had gotten rid of the podcast studio. As time went on, even after the strike had ended, it became apparent that they were not planning on continuing, as it was "logistically impossible" to get the three of them in a room together and no one wanted to do the podcast over Zoom.[2] On August 1st, 2024,[3] the official website (which previously hosted transcripts, among other things) went down, and the site has been offline ever since.
