"The Gang Beats Boggs: Ladies Reboot" is the third episode of the thirteenth season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It aired on September 20, 2018.
Synopsis[]
To one-up the guys, Dee has organized an "all-female reboot" of the Wade Boggs challenge on a first-of-it's-kind, all-female flight headed to L.A. for the women's march.
Plot[]
12:00 PM, on a Thursday, Philadelphia, PA
Dee books a flight for herself, Artemis, The Waitress, Mrs. Kelly, and Mrs. Mac on an all-female flight to Los Angeles for a women's march, but mostly uses it as an excuse to do an "all-female reboot" of the Wade Boggs challenge the gang did previously. While boarding, Artemis and The Waitress express disdain for copying the men's challenge, Mrs. Kelly has misogynistic fears about women flying the plane, and Mrs. Mac is more energetic than usual after being revealed to have eaten her 2-week supply of nicotine patches and is given the role of "commissioner" by Dee.
When Dee runs out of beers on the flight, she runs into The Waiter, now working as a flight attendant, and is forced to change the challenge from beers to bottled rosé wine (as the pink color honors the women's march). The Wade Boggs challenge starts to spiral out of control when The Waitress wants to copy Dennis's sexual achievements from the last flight, Artemis foregoes the challenge to sell passengers holistic health and sexual products (her score is 6), and Mrs. Kelly forfeits after "finding a real man" in the form of Frank sneaking on board and hiding in the bathroom to solicit sex and that she no longer needs to drink to calm herself (her score is 15).
The challenge is further strained when The Waiter tells Dee that a first-class passenger purchased the entire supply of rosé wine, to which she finds Gail the Snail as the culprit, doing so out of jealousy for not being invited to the challenge. After The Waitress passes out and drops out of the competition (her score is 19), Dee has a drunken hallucination of Martina Navratilova (who she incorrectly believes to hold a similar drinking record as Wade Boggs) and Boss Hogg (like the last flight) and is convinced to continue the challenge against Gail after previously refusing to do so.
Dee and Gail have a drink-off in front of the passengers, and Gail eventually concedes (her score is unseen, but was at 21 when first challenging Dee). As Dee declares herself the winner, Artemis tells her that no one is winning the competition that she believes is a "male hand-me-down plot". Passengers then start vomiting around them as Dee begins to feel ill herself, and Artemis reveals she spiked a tea she served earlier while selling holistic products with ayahuasca. As everyone in view vomits and has diarrhea violently, Artemis proclaims that no one would have seen gross-out humor coming from women.
The flight is then ironically grounded at North Dakota similar to the previous challenge, where Dee is wheeled out on a medical gurney and told she is unfit to continue flying to Los Angeles by The Waiter. He writes 28 on her forehead as her score. Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Mac is last seen on the same baseball field in Los Angeles as Charlie and Mac when they completed their challenge.

Trivia[]
- This is the first episode of the series in which Dennis doesn't appear, despite the fact that Glenn Howerton is credited during the opening credits.
- This is second time that Frank and The Waitress have sex, the first time being in the episode "Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom".
- This is the second time that Dee has shit herself (Old Lady House: A Situational Comedy). The other members of the Gang to have shit themselves are Mac (Mac Day), Frank (Frank Retires), and Charlie (Chardee MacDennis 2: Electric Boogaloo).
- Just in case you were wondering: not all racehorses are male. In fact, 3 fillies have won the Kentucky Derby: Winning Colors (1988), Genuine Risk (1980) and Regret (1915).
- Artemis' business of selling sexual health products to women with vaguely spiritual overtones is a parody of Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop company, up to and including a "crystal you put up your snatch" -- one of Goop's more notorious products is a jade egg meant to be inserted into the vagina to harness the power of the "yoni."
- As of October 2022, this is the lowest rated episode on IMDB, with a 6.6
- The scene in which Dee and others on the flight experience explosive diarrhea references a similar scene in the movie Bridesmaids. Kristin Wiig, the star of that movie, expressed a criticism of that scene that matches the point of this episode well: the scene showed how in Hollywood, "women's comedy" usually involves women just being as gross as men can be.
Continuity[]
- The flight attendant mentions he used to work at Guigino's. He dealt with the gang in that capacity in the episodes The Gang Dines Out and again in The Gang Spies Like U.S. He mentions that he "waited on you guys at the Super Bowl" -- this refers to the episode The Gang Wins the Big Game, which is scheduled to run on October 31, 2018, 6 weeks after this episode originally aired.
- Mrs Mac is put in charge of being commissioner, which is appropriate as Mac was commissioner for the original Boggs challenge. She takes the role very seriously and even pushes Dee aside to keep track; she is energetic because she has eaten 2 weeks worth of nicotine patches.
- As of this episode all five members of the Gang have had some form of erotic encounter with the Waitress: here she tries to make out with Dee as she mistakes her for Dennis, and bangs Frank a second time, slept with Charlie in 12x10, slept with Dennis in 1x04, and did hand stuff (at least) with Mac in 4x04.
