Overview[]
The 7 Secrets of Awakening the Highly Effective Four-Hour Giant, Today is meant to be a self-help book written by The Gang, as Charlie had gotten HarperCollins' executive editor drunk and landed a book deal with her, as she believed that he was a "self-help guru". Throughout the book, there are notes added by the fictitious publisher that show just how much they hate the gang. It is stated that this publishing deal had essentially destroyed their business, and they were now in the middle of a law suit against the gang.
The contents of the book consist of transcripts of the gang's verbal conversations, chapters written by each of them, and magazine style quizzes. The book is split into five areas: Relationships, Financial Success and Career, Fashion and Personal Grooming, Health and Diet, Survival Skills, despite the title claiming there are "7 Secrets"; this is stated to be a marketing tactic, as people are drawn to the number 7.
Because Charlie cannot write, his chapters have been unreliably transcribed by the other members of the gang, who take it in turns to write for him. Artemis is the only person to properly write one of Charlie’s chapters for him, similarly to how she previously transcribed The Nightman Cometh. Some of Charlie’s handwritten poems and drawings are also included.
