It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Wiki

Season 8 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia begins on Thursday, October 11th at 10 PM ET/PT on FX, and is set to consist of 13 inevitably hilarious episodes.

First, I'd like to point out how absolutely AMAZING the marketing campaign for this season has been. Have you seen the promos? They are probably the best promos for any TV show, ever. In a masterstroke of self-deprecation, obscure cameo infusion, and blatant parody, it was announced that the entire cast of It's Always Sunny was replaced by the likes of Haley Joel "I see dead people" Osmont as Mac, rapper Xzibit as Sweet Dee, UFC fighter Chael Sonnen as Dennis, Candace "DJ Tanner" Cameron as Charlie, and Andrew Dice Clay as Frank. What you haven't seen during commercial breaks is this 5 minute featurette on the new cast:

Anyway, the ridiculous promos don't really prepare us at all for what's in store. Last season, the schemers and dreamers of Paddy's Pub took their antics to a whole new level. The Gang went to their high school reunion and Jersey Shore, Frank married a hooker, and Mac cultivated a lot of friggin' mass!

We don't know much about this coming season except that the Gang will go to therapy sessions, Charlie and Sweet Dee will find love, and Sean "P-Diddy" Combs will guest star at some point. As far as specific episodes go, right now we only know about the first three:

  • Season Premiere: Pop-Pop: The Final Solution - Dennis and Dee's ailing grandfather Pop-Pop is wasting away in the hospital, and they have to decide whether or not to pull the plug. But things get complicated when The Gang]learns of Pop-Pop's history as a Nazi, and Mac, Charlie, and Frank set off in search of the old man's spoils from the war.
  • Episode 2: The Gang Recycles Their Trash - With the garbage men of Philadelphia on strike, Frank concocts a plan to undercut the union and get the contract to collect the city's trash. But when The Gang's elaborate plan starts to fall apart, everyone will get their hands a little dirtier than expected.
  • Episode 3: The Gang Goes Virtual - Dee becomes addicted to computer games, and the line between reality and virtual reality begins to blur.

Season 8 sounds pretty great to me already! How about you?
